Donald Colby

Donald Colby is the firm’s specialist in software and IT. He is involved in all of our REAPs— the assessment we make of the internal workings of a Development Office.

Don brings an extraordinary background to his work with our clients. He was Senior Systems Analyst & Programmer at the University of Illinois. In that position, he designed, programmed, installed, and maintained the software and hardware for the University. He coordinated and trained all of the IT personnel at the institution. donald-colby

He worked closely with the Foundation staff at the University. At that time he became very interested in fundraising. He asked if he could switch from the computer and IT to the fundraising. The University was quick to accept his decision.

He became Regional Director of Gift Development where he was a huge success. He was responsible for 200 contacts a year where he built and maintained a portfolio of major gift donors and probable donors. His results were among the highest at the University.

He then became Associate Vice President at Idaho State University. He is responsible for all campaign activities— individual giving, corporate and foundation giving. As you perhaps would expect, the University also gave him responsibility to oversee the IT and Database Operations.

What is quite extraordinary is Don’s background in IT and software— and to this he brings his fundraising skills and talents. It is a rare combination that serves us well. And provides our clients with extraordinary results.

Don has been responsible for eight-figure gifts which he cultivated and secured. He has capital campaign management experience, sixteen years in corporate sales in the private sector, and twelve years in the computer industry. In our entire staff, he brings the broadest range of experience and talent.
